Go Shawty, It’s Ya Birthday

OMG Guys guess what?  My birthday is on Friday!  Are we sick of me talking about my birthday yet?  I’m almost sick of me, so I don’t blame you.

Kidding!  I love birthdays.  And I swear, I’ve never been one to milk a birthday the way I have this birthday.  But as I told my brother, “I only turn 40 for the first time once!”.  Usually though, I celebrate my birthday, on my birthday, I allow myself to feel extra special that day, and I move on.  This year is a little different, because, duh, 40.

On Saturday night, I had a small cocktail party with my closest girlfriends (shout-out to those who couldn’t make it, you were missed!), catered by my favorite restaurant, Our House Davis, complete with my favorite cake and cupcakes, and a wealth of delicious champagne.  To say it was fun was an understatement.  I had such a great time.  Everyone dressed up, we talked, we laughed, we ate, we took selfies.  It was just perfect.  Thank you ladies for making it a great night!!

Are you kidding me with this spread?  Our House outdid themselves with this set-up and food.  It was DELICIOUS!  And see those pretty flowers?  Stacy & Sarah showed up with those awesome arrangements and some killer balloons.  Thanks girls!!

SusieCakes Vanilla Blue – Vanilla cupcake with SusieBlue vanilla frosting.  I may have eaten two of these for breakfast yesterday.  I had to freeze the rest or else I would have for sure eaten them all.  Thanks for bringing these from San Francisco, Adie!

This cake was not only GORGEOUS, but it was DELICIOUS and GLUTEN FREE!  Are you kidding me?  My dear friend Cary made it.  I mean, I would have been thankful for a sheet cake that came out of a box in a tinfoil pan, but no.  She went for it and absolutely killed it.  It is SO decadent.  I also had some of this for breakfast and then promptly froze the rest.  My freezer currently looks like a sweets shop.

When there is no one around to take a group photo, you improvise with a selfie stick, a Snapchat filter and the timer.  Thanks for engineering that one Katie!

So many amazing women all in one room.  It’s so fun when you introduce friends and they become friends.  And when one friend is excited to see another friend.  I love my friends!

At the end of the night there were 7 women left.  We decided to go out for a bit.  Adie had the brilliant idea to stop in front of the Capitol for a photo op.  Our Lyft driver happily obliged us.  He earned that tip!  And how pretty is the Capitol at night?  Who knew!

A big thanks again to everyone who came out!  Thanks to you all for also being horrible listeners and bringing gifts.  It was fun opening everything up in the morning and I certainly won’t need to buy wine for a while!  All of your love & friendship means the world and I wouldn’t have wanted to kick off my birthday any other way!
